Construction Controller

Dallas-Fort Worth, TX | $95,000-120,000 Annual Salary

The Construction Controller is responsible for the overall accounting and financial reporting for Con-Real. This includes developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You will also work  closely with other members of the management team to provide financial analysis and support for decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures

  • Monitor and adhere to regulatory compliance, including taxes and reporting

  • Oversee financial operations including, but not limited to, AP/AR, Job Costing, Budgets, and Cash Flow Management

  • Prepare financial statements and all supporting schedules (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement, Work in Progress Statement)

  • Review various contracts

  • Prepare construction payment applications and other invoices as required by contracts

  • Track costs and expenses for each construction project, and ensure that costs are within budget

  • Manage and train accounting staff

  • Prepare all necessary reconciliations and support documentation for exterior auditors

  • File monthly sales tax reports for various states when required

  • Comply with all applicable regulations, including tax laws and securities laws

Requirements

  • BS, BA, or MBA in Accounting, preferably a CPA or CPA candidate

  • 5-10 years of construction accounting experience

  • Strong understanding of construction industry accounting principles

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

  • Proficient in Sage 300 (formerly Timberline) accounting software

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
